Tendon problems

My two real passions in musculoskeletal medicine are overuse injuries which often involve tendons and spinal pain (low back pain, neck pain, whiplash).

I have completed a PhD into Achilles Tendon disorders. A PhD is a research doctorate normally taking 3 years full time or 5-7 years part-time. My work  helped determine the incidence of Achilles tendon disorders in UK runners and also what factors caused the disorder (risk factors). I have also completed some studies to determine why exercise helps the condition in an attempt to develop  better treatment approach. This has led to numourous publications on the subject.

For further information on this see www.achillestendonresearch.com and these blogs on risk factors and diagnosis.

I strongly recommend any runners check out the www.running-physio.com website for excellent information on training, injury prevention and self treatment.

I will hopefully find time between family, work and research to update this website.
